How To Get Back To Your Normal Routine

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed post-covid? If so, that’s okay! A lot of people are. At IMC, we believe the best way to get over this and get back to normal is to develop a routine and stick to it. We hope this short guide can help you out!

1. Set small, achievable goals

Hovering in and out of any routine (including Martial Arts) can feel extremely frustrating but it’s important to remain positive. By setting realistic goals for yourself, you will manage your expectations and continue to feel proud of the little milestones you accomplish as you work yourself back into your routine. For example, try to keep up with the class pushups or try to attend all of your scheduled classes this week.

2. Get a training buddy

Working out with a friend isn’t just fun, it can also be quite motivating. Chances are your friend needs you just as much as you need them, so why not partner up and encourage one another?

3. Invest in something new

It may seem silly, but looking the part can make a huge psychological difference! A new uniform or set of gloves can empower you to train the house down next time you’re in class!

4. Don’t be too hard on yourself

The reality is, if you weren’t training during lockdown, the first few sessions are going to be tough. Don’t expect to be at the same level and certainly don’t be disheartened if that’s the case. Remember: Rome wasn’t built in a day.

5. Celebrate your success

When something becomes a habit, it can be easy to take it for granted. It’s important to acknowledge your accomplishments and appreciate the hard work you are investing in yourself. Instead of just checking them off the list, celebrate the fact that you did what you set out to do, no matter how small the task. Success will continue to breed success.
